✂️ Collection as Teacher—From Touchboard to Color Block Set
Editorial note:
This work has been created in the context of the Bauhaus Open Studios programme with students from Cornell College of Human Ecology’s Department of Human Centered Design (studio lead: Catherine Kueffer Blumenkamp) in spring 2024. Students were asked to select an object from CF+TC, create a touchboard as in the preliminary course at the Bauhaus and then develop their own design based on this material analysis.
Our design is a color block top with cut out, color block shorts with drape detail on side, and a gathered bolero. We chose brown and green as a colorway. The top and bottoms are made entirely of corduroy and the bolero is made of a green chiffon.
Lucy Jones is a Los Angeles based designer. She has studied design and construction at Central Saint Martins, London College of Fashion, Parsons School of Design, and FIDM, and is a current sophomore at Cornell University where she focuses on menswear.
